morning until time of service, Pulliam Funeral Home - Oblong, IL. Wardie W. “Smitty” Smith 86 Rural Willow Hill, IL. died Monday December 11, 200 at Crawford Memorial Hospital Robinson, IL following an extended illness. He was born November 29, 1914 in Jasper County near Yale, Illinois. Wardie was the son of Jason David & Edith (Peters) Smith. On November 10, 1956 he married Freda Estelene Keller in Crown Point, Indiana. Wardie & Freda lived in Hammond, Indiana before moving back to Willow Hill in 1978. Wardie was a mechanic for Roger’s Cartage Company in Hammond from 1954 thru 1978. when he retired. When they moved back to Willow Hill, Wardie became a farmer. He served in the United States Army in 1941. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Freda; 3 sons and daughters-in-laws Mike & Diane Smith, David & Barb Smith and Jim & Bekki Smith; 1 daughter Lisa Smith & Raymond Ferguson; 2 Grandchildren Heather Lynn & Jason Lee Smith; 1 Step Granddaughter Bobbie Jo Worman; 1 brother & sister-in-law Clyde & Mary Smith; 1 sister and brother-in-law Dorothy & Bob Schifler; brother-in-law & sister-in-law Charles & Bonnie Keller. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Wardie is preceded in death by his parents, twin sister at birth, another infant sister and 2 infant brothers. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery and Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932 will conduct the Military Rites at the cemetery. |
